Profile
Pro Bono Legal Assistance in Montgomery
The Montgomery Volunteer Lawyers Program (MVLP) is a vital non-profit organization dedicated to providing free civil legal assistance to low-income residents of Montgomery County. Established to bridge the gap in access to justice, the program mobilizes private attorneys who volunteer their time and expertise to help those who cannot afford private counsel. Supported by the Montgomery County Bar Foundation, the MVLP plays a crucial role in the community by ensuring that financial hardship does not prevent individuals from resolving critical legal issues. The program is not a traditional law firm but a network of dedicated legal professionals committed to public service.

Committed to the Community
The Montgomery Volunteer Lawyers Program operates with the belief that justice should be accessible to all, regardless of income. The program screens applicants for eligibility based on income and asset guidelines. Qualified clients are then matched with volunteer attorneys who handle their cases pro bono. In addition to direct representation, the MVLP hosts monthly legal advice clinics where residents can speak with a lawyer for free to get answers to their legal questions. If you are facing a civil legal problem and cannot afford a lawyer, the MVLP is a resource designed to help you. Please note that the program does not handle criminal cases, fee-generating cases, or traffic violations.
