Profile
Legal Representation for All
The Marion County Public Defender Agency is an independent government agency located in Indianapolis, Indiana, dedicated to providing high-quality legal representation to indigent defendants. Established in 1994, the agency ensures that no individual is denied their constitutional right to counsel due to an inability to pay. The agency represents adults and juveniles in criminal, juvenile, and civil commitment proceedings throughout Marion County. With a staff of dedicated attorneys, social workers, and support personnel, the Public Defender Agency works tirelessly to advocate for the liberty and rights of its clients. The agency operates independently of the court system and the prosecutor’s office, ensuring an unbiased and vigorous defense for those facing the deprivation of liberty. Their mission is rooted in the belief that justice should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial status.

- Appeals: Filing appeals for criminal convictions and other adverse judgments to higher courts.
- Problem-Solving Courts: participating in drug court, mental health court, and veterans court to find rehabilitative alternatives to incarceration.
