Profile
Holding Powerful Institutions Accountable
Allegiant Law LLP is a boutique civil litigation firm located in the heart of Downtown Portland. Founded by veteran trial lawyer Bonnie Richardson, the firm is built on a mission of courage and accountability. Unlike general practice firms, Allegiant Law focuses on high-stakes, complex litigation where individuals have been wronged by powerful entities. The firm is particularly renowned for its work in Legal Malpractice, representing clients who have been harmed by the negligence or misconduct of other attorneys. This niche practice requires a fearless approach, as it involves holding peers in the legal profession answerable for their actions. Additionally, the firm is a fierce advocate for vulnerable children, handling significant cases involving foster care abuse and institutional negligence.
Specialized Litigation Practice
The firm concentrates on areas of law that require deep procedural knowledge and a willingness to go to trial.
- Legal Malpractice: Pursuing claims against lawyers for missed deadlines, conflicts of interest, and incompetence that caused financial loss to their clients.
- Trust and Estate Litigation: Resolving disputes over inheritances, undue influence, and breaches of fiduciary duty by trustees.
- Civil Rights & Foster Care Abuse: Representing children and families who have suffered abuse or neglect while in the care of the state or foster system.
- Commercial Litigation: Handling complex business disputes, including breach of contract and partnership disagreements.
A Client-First Philosophy
Allegiant Law LLP limits its caseload to ensure that every client receives focused, high-level representation. The attorneys, including Bonnie Richardson and James Plunkett, believe that the civil justice system is the best mechanism for ordinary citizens to find truth and justice. They approach every case with a "leave no stone unturned" mentality. Bonnie Richardson has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Oregon by Super Lawyers and is a recipient of the Multnomah Bar Association’s Professionalism Award. The firm’s dedication to ethical standards and professional excellence makes them a trusted choice for clients facing difficult legal battles.
