Profile
A Beacon of Hope for Immigrants and Refugees in Central Pennsylvania
Welcome to the International Service Center (ISC), a dedicated non-profit agency in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, that has been serving as a cornerstone of support for our region’s immigrant and refugee communities since 1976. Located on South River Street, our organization was founded with a profound and enduring mission: to help newcomers navigate the challenges and opportunities of a new life with dignity and respect. 🤔 We understand that the journey to building a life in a new country is filled with complex legal, social, and linguistic hurdles. Our purpose is to be a trusted partner and advocate for our new neighbors, providing a comprehensive range of services to empower them to thrive. We are more than a service provider; we are a community of compassion, dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment for all. ❤️
Low-Cost, DOJ-Accredited Immigration Legal Services
At the heart of ISC’s mission is our commitment to providing high-quality, affordable legal counsel. We are officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Access Programs (OLAP), which authorizes our accredited representatives to provide trustworthy legal services for a fraction of the cost of a private attorney. We believe that access to justice should not depend on one’s ability to pay. Our experienced legal team provides expert guidance on a wide variety of immigration matters. Our key legal services include:
- Family Immigration Lawyers: Keeping families together is our top priority. We provide comprehensive assistance with family-based petitions, adjustment of status (Green Cards), and consular processing to help U.S. citizens and permanent residents unite with their loved ones. 👨👩👧👦
- Citizenship Lawyers: We guide eligible permanent residents through the entire naturalization process, from application preparation to interview coaching, helping them achieve their ultimate goal of becoming U.S. citizens.
- Humanitarian Relief: We are a safe haven for the vulnerable, providing skilled representation for asylum seekers, refugees, and victims of crime and domestic violence through U Visa and VAWA petitions.
- Other Vital Immigration Services: Our expertise also covers Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) renewals, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), employment authorization, and other essential immigration applications.
Comprehensive Support for a Successful Transition
Beyond legal services, ISC provides a holistic network of support to address the diverse needs of our clients. We understand that a successful transition involves more than just a legal status. Our wrap-around services are designed to empower individuals and families to become self-sufficient and fully integrated members of our community. These vital programs include refugee resettlement assistance, which helps newly arrived refugees with housing, cultural orientation, and more. Furthermore, our robust Language Services department offers professional interpretation and translation in dozens of languages, ensuring that language is never a barrier to accessing critical services. 🌐
