Pro Bono Legal Services for the Arts Community
Lawyers for the Creative Arts (LCA) is a cornerstone of the Chicago arts scene, providing essential, free legal services to the creative community. 🎨 Since 1972, this not-for-profit organization has been the only pro bono legal service in the area exclusively dedicated to the arts. We connect financially eligible artists and arts organizations with a network of over one thousand volunteer attorneys. If you are an artist in need of legal help but can’t afford a lawyer, LCA is your most valuable resource. We handle everything from contracts to copyrights, ensuring that your creative spark is nourished and protected. ✨
Comprehensive Legal Support for Creatives
Our mission is to make legal assistance accessible to those in the visual, performing, literary, and entertainment fields. We understand the unique legal challenges that artists face. When you urgently need a lawyer to review a contract, file a trademark, or handle a dispute, our team and dedicated volunteers are here to help. Our areas of expertise are tailored to the creative sector:
- Copyright Lawyers: We provide critical assistance with copyright registration, infringement issues, and licensing to protect your original works.
- Trademark Lawyers: Helping you secure and defend your brand, logos, and creative identity.
- Contract Lawyers: We assist with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating all types of industry-specific contracts and agreements.
- Business Formation Lawyers: We guide artists and organizations through the process of forming non-profits and other business entities.
Education and Advocacy
Beyond individual legal aid, LCA is committed to educating the arts community. 🧑🏫 We offer a wide range of high-quality seminars, workshops, and educational programs on specialized Arts Law topics, reaching thousands of artists and arts managers each year. These programs empower creatives with the legal knowledge they need to succeed. If you are looking to find a lawyer or simply learn more about your legal rights as a creator, LCA is an invaluable partner. When you need to order a lawyer’s expertise without the financial burden, Lawyers for the Creative Arts is here to support you. 💖
