Legal Advocacy for the LGBTQ+ Community
FreeState Justice is Maryland’s premier statewide legal advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of low-income lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) Marylanders. Founded on the principle that the law should be a shield against discrimination, this non-profit organization combines direct legal services with systemic policy advocacy. The team at FreeState Justice works tirelessly to ensure that individuals facing bias based on their sexual orientation or gender identity have access to high-quality, non-judgmental representation. Whether assisting a transgender client with a name change or representing a victim of workplace discrimination, the organization provides a lifeline to those who might otherwise be unable to afford counsel.

- Family Law: Compassionate counsel for LGBTQ+ families navigating divorce, custody disputes, adoption, and second-parent adoptions.
