Profile
Providing Justice and Hope to Philadelphia’s Most Vulnerable
Christian Legal Clinics of Philadelphia (CLCP) is a faith-based non-profit organization founded in 2001 with a mission to ‘do justice with the love of God’ for those in need. We are a dedicated urban legal ministry that partners with existing community-based ministries to bring justice to the poorest sections of the city. By establishing legal aid clinics in at-risk neighborhoods, we bring volunteer attorneys to low-income clients, providing a place of safety and hope where they can receive expert legal counsel. Our model is built on compassion and service, addressing the legal challenges that perpetuate poverty and instability. All clients receive a free one-hour consultation with a licensed attorney to discuss their case, receive sound advice, and, where appropriate, connect with a network of attorneys for pro bono or reduced-fee representation.
Comprehensive Free Legal Services for the Community
CLCP provides free legal assistance across a wide range of civil matters that critically impact the lives of our clients. Our volunteer legal professionals are equipped to handle various issues, empowering individuals and families to find stability and justice.
- Divorce and Family Law Lawyers: We provide crucial support for sensitive family matters, including child custody, child support, and obtaining Protection From Abuse (PFA) orders for victims of domestic violence.
- Wills, Estate Planning and Probate Lawyers: Our team assists with essential life planning, helping clients draft Wills and Powers of Attorney to protect their assets and ensure their wishes are honored.
- Residential Real Estate Lawyers: We advocate for clients in housing disputes, including landlord-tenant issues, to prevent homelessness and ensure safe living conditions.
- Debt Relief and Tax Lawyers: We offer guidance on consumer law, debt, and bankruptcy issues, helping clients navigate financial hardships.
- Immigration Lawyers: We provide assistance with immigration and naturalization matters, helping individuals and families navigate the complex legal system.
- Criminal Defense Lawyers: A key service we provide is helping individuals move forward with their lives through criminal record clearing and expungement.
A Bridge to a Community of Hope
We believe in addressing the whole person. Beyond legal advice, we seek to connect clients with local ministries and churches for ongoing spiritual and community support. CLCP acts as a lighthouse for those in troubled waters and a bridge to a community that will care for them. Our clinics, located in North and West Philadelphia, are staffed by dedicated volunteers who are committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors.
