DPH Practitioner Licensing and Investigations
The Practitioner Licensing and Investigations Section (PLIS) of the Connecticut Department of Public Health is the regulatory body responsible for ensuring the competency and integrity of healthcare professionals in the state. Located within the state health complex at 410 Capitol Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut, this section oversees the licensure, certification, and registration of over 70 different healthcare professions.
Licensing Services
This office manages the credentials for a vast array of practitioners, ensuring they meet the state’s rigorous educational and professional standards. Regulated professions include:
- Physicians and Surgeons: Medical doctors (MD) and Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- Nurses: Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN).
- Allied Health: Dentists, physical therapists, radiographers, and respiratory care practitioners.
- Behavioral Health: Psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors.
Investigations and Complaints
In addition to issuing licenses, the section investigates complaints against healthcare providers.
