Timothy J. O’Connor Training Center
- Facility: The primary training facility for the Chicago Police Department, known as the Police Academy.
- Training: Conducts the Basic Recruit Program (900+ hours), in-service training for active officers, and promotional training.
- Resources: Features classrooms, computer labs, a gymnasium, and firing ranges for comprehensive education.
The Education and Training Division ensures that new recruits are prepared for the physical, legal, and ethical demands of policing. It also handles the continuous professional development of the force. This location is the central hub for recruitment processing and cadet education.
Recruitment & Access
- Candidates: Police officer candidates report here for orientation, exams, and training blocks.
- Security: Access is strictly restricted to authorized personnel, recruits, and scheduled visitors.
