Profile
Training Future Lawyers, Serving the Community Today
The Temple Legal Aid Office is a cornerstone of the Philadelphia legal community, embodying Temple University Beasley School of Law’s commitment to public service. 🏛️ As one of the oldest law school clinical programs in the United States, we have a dual mission: to provide invaluable hands-on training to the next generation of attorneys and to deliver high-quality, free legal services to low-income residents of Philadelphia. Since our inception in 1951, we have been a beacon of hope for thousands of individuals and families who would otherwise be unable to afford legal representation. Our law students, under the close supervision of experienced faculty, handle every aspect of our clients’ cases with professionalism, compassion, and a tireless dedication to justice.
Focused Legal Services for Our Community’s Needs
We provide expert legal assistance in several critical areas of civil law, focusing on the issues that most profoundly impact vulnerable populations. Our services are offered at no cost to clients who meet our income eligibility guidelines. Please note that while we handle many family law matters, we do not represent clients in divorce or equitable distribution cases. Our primary areas of practice include:
- Family Law Lawyers: We understand the sensitive nature of family legal issues. Our office represents clients in matters of Child Custody, visitation, and establishing parentage. We also advocate for clients in cases involving Child Support and spousal support.
- Domestic Violence Lawyers: Protecting the safety and well-being of our clients is paramount. We provide legal representation for individuals seeking Protection from Abuse (PFA) orders and assist with other legal matters related to domestic violence.
- Social Security Disability Benefits: We represent clients whose applications for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits have been denied. We guide them through the complex appeals process to help secure the financial support they are entitled to.
- Wills, Estate Planning and Probate Lawyers: We assist low-income seniors and individuals with chronic illnesses in planning for their future. Our services include drafting simple Wills Lawyers, living wills, and preparing Power of Attorney Lawyers documents to ensure our clients’ wishes are respected.
A Partnership for Justice
Choosing the Temple Legal Aid Office means you are not only receiving dedicated legal support but also contributing to the education of future public interest lawyers. ⚖️ Our model allows us to provide thorough and thoughtful representation while instilling a lifelong commitment to service in our students. We believe in equal access to justice and work tirelessly to be a powerful voice for the underserved. If you need assistance in one of our practice areas, please contact our office to see if you qualify for our free services. 📞
