Agency Overview
The Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging (SWCAA) is the designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for the region, serving as a primary resource for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers. While organized as a private, non-profit corporation, SWCAA operates under a direct mandate from the state and federal government to administer public funds, including those from the Older Americans Act and the Connecticut Department of Social Services. - Respite Care: Offering short-term relief for family caregivers through the National Family Caregiver Support Program.
- Money Follows the Person: Assisting individuals in transitioning from nursing facilities back into the community with necessary supports.

The agency’s offices are located on the 9th Floor of 1000 Lafayette Boulevard in downtown Bridgeport. Assistance is available via the toll-free information line or by appointment. The staff includes social service professionals and bilingual counselors. Visitors to the building can utilize the adjacent parking garage (rates apply).
