Overview
Riverside Recycling Facility
The Riverside Recycling Facility serves as the primary solid waste processing and recycling hub for the City of Portland and the surrounding region. Owned by the municipality and operated by CPRC Management, this facility plays a crucial role in the community’s environmental sustainability efforts. It is open to the general public, including residents, businesses, and private contractors, offering a centralized location for the disposal of materials that cannot be collected curbside.
Accepted Materials and Services
- Bulky Waste: Disposal of furniture, mattresses, and large household items.
- Construction Debris: Processing of wood, drywall, asphalt shingles, and other demolition materials.
- E-Waste: Safe recycling of electronics, including televisions, computers, and fluorescent bulbs.
- Yard Waste: Collection of leaves, grass clippings, and brush for composting.
- Silver Bullet: A free-to-use drop-off point for single-sort recyclables (paper, cardboard, plastics, glass).
Facility Operations
Upon arrival at 910 Riverside Street, all visitors must stop at the scale house to speak with an attendant and weigh their vehicle. The facility operates on a fee-based system for most items, although Portland residents with a valid E-Card may be eligible for limited no-cost disposal of specific bulky items. Please note that household trash (food waste) is not accepted here and must be disposed of via the city’s purple bag curbside collection or at a designated transfer station.
