Overview
Concord Fire Department Communications Center
The Concord Fire Department Communications Center, widely known as ”Concord Fire Alarm,” is located at 24 Horseshoe Pond Lane (Building 1) in Concord, New Hampshire. Situated within the renovated historic Water Works campus, this facility operates as the regional emergency dispatch hub for the area. It is responsible for receiving and processing 911 calls and coordinating the response of fire and emergency medical services (EMS) units. The center plays a pivotal role in public safety, ensuring rapid deployment of resources during critical incidents.
Regional Dispatch Services
Concord Fire Alarm is not just a local dispatch point but a major regional asset. It provides comprehensive dispatching services for:
- Concord Fire Department: Managing all stations and units within the city.
- Capital Area Mutual Aid Fire Compact: Serving as the primary coordination center for over 20 surrounding communities in the Greater Concord region.
- Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid: Maintaining backup capabilities to ensure uninterrupted service during catastrophic events.
Technology and Operations
The center is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by highly trained public safety dispatchers. They utilize advanced Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, GPS mapping, and radio telecommunications to monitor unit status and manage incidents ranging from medical emergencies to structure fires. The facility is also the designated ”Point of Contact” for the New Hampshire Fire Mobilization Plan, helping to organize large-scale mutual aid resources across the state when local assets are exhausted.
