Overview
NH Fish and Game – Fisheries Division
The Inland Fisheries Division of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department is headquartered at 11 Hazen Drive in Concord, New Hampshire. This division is responsible for the protection, conservation, and management of the state’s freshwater fish resources. It oversees the operation of six state fish hatcheries, which produce nearly one million trout annually for stocking in rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds. The division works to ensure sustainable fishing opportunities for anglers while preserving the ecological health of aquatic habitats.
Hatcheries and Stocking
The division manages a robust stocking program, releasing Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout, as well as Landlocked Salmon, into waters across the state. They monitor fish populations through biological surveys and set regulations to prevent overfishing. The Concord headquarters serves as the administrative hub for these statewide operations, coordinating logistics for hatchery production and distribution.
Licensing and Information
While the primary focus of this division is biological management, the Licensing Office is also located within the same headquarters building. Anglers can visit to purchase fishing licenses, OHRV registrations, and hike safe cards. The lobby features educational displays about New Hampshire’s wildlife. Staff are available to answer questions regarding fishing seasons, rules, and waterbody specific regulations.
