Profile
A Century of Welcoming Newcomers to Connecticut
Since 1918, the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) has stood as a pillar of hope and support for newcomers to the state. As a non-profit organization with a legacy spanning over 100 years, CIRI is dedicated to empowering refugees, immigrants, survivors of human trafficking, and unaccompanied minors to become self-sufficient, integrated, and contributing members of the community. From our Hartford office, we provide a holistic and compassionate array of services designed to break down the legal, economic, linguistic, and social barriers that newcomers often face. We believe in a just world that is boldly inclusive and welcoming to all, and our work is a testament to that vision. Our team of dedicated attorneys, accredited representatives, and case workers are committed to providing the highest quality of service and advocacy. 🤝
Affordable, Expert Immigration Legal Services
CIRI’s Immigration Legal Services program is recognized by the Department of Justice and is a cornerstone of our mission. We provide affordable and often free legal assistance to low-income individuals and families navigating the complexities of U.S. immigration law. Our experienced legal team offers more than just representation; we empower our clients with the knowledge and understanding of their rights. We are a trusted resource for the community, guiding clients through their entire journey. 📜
- Family Immigration Lawyers: We work to reunite families by assisting with family-based petitions, adjustment of status (Green Cards), and consular processing.
- Citizenship Lawyers: We guide eligible permanent residents through the entire naturalization process, from application preparation to interview coaching, helping them achieve their dream of becoming U.S. citizens.
- Deportation Defense Lawyers: We provide critical legal representation for individuals in removal proceedings, fighting for their right to remain in the United States and exploring all available forms of relief.
- Asylum and Refugee Support: We offer expert legal assistance to individuals fleeing persecution and seeking asylum, and provide ongoing support to refugees as they rebuild their lives.
- Humanitarian Visas: Our team has special expertise in providing legal protection for the most vulnerable, including survivors of human trafficking (T-Visas), torture, and other serious crimes (U-Visas).
More Than a Law Firm: A Holistic Approach
What makes CIRI unique is our integrated service model. We understand that legal challenges are often intertwined with social and economic needs. In addition to our legal services, we offer comprehensive support that includes refugee resettlement, economic empowerment through job training and placement, and social services. This 360-degree approach ensures that our clients not only resolve their legal issues but also gain the tools and stability needed to thrive in their new home. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where cultural diversity is valued as a strength for all of Connecticut. ❤️
