Overview
About the DEA Bridgeport Resident Office
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Bridgeport Resident Office is a federal law enforcement agency operating under the jurisdiction of the New England Field Division. Located in the 1000 Lafayette Boulevard building, this office is dedicated to enforcing the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States. Special Agents and Task Force Officers assigned here focus on dismantling major drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) operating within Fairfield County. The office works closely with local and state partners through the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) task force to combat the distribution of illicit drugs such as fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine.
Investigative Mission
Unlike a local police station, this facility is strictly an investigative hub and does not offer general public services. Its primary functions include:
- Drug Enforcement: Investigating and prosecuting individuals involved in the growing, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances.
- Diversion Control: preventing the diversion of controlled pharmaceuticals and listed chemicals into the illicit market.
- Task Force Operations: Collaborating with the Bridgeport Police Department and Connecticut State Police on joint investigations.
Security and Access
The DEA office is a secure federal facility and is not open to the public for walk-in visits. Access is restricted to authorized personnel and individuals with specific, scheduled appointments. All visitors must present valid government-issued photo identification and are subject to strict security screening. Weapons, cameras, and recording devices are prohibited. The public is encouraged to submit tips regarding suspected drug activity via the DEA’s official online tip line rather than visiting in person. 🏛️💊🚫💉🕵️♂️👮♂️🇺🇸
