The Connecticut Metropolitan Council of Governments (MetroCOG) is the designated regional planning organization for the Greater Bridgeport area. Headquartered at 1000 Lafayette Boulevard, this agency serves six member municipalities: Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull. MetroCOG functions as a forum for local chief elected officials to address issues of regional concern, including land use, conservation, and economic development, effectively replacing many functions of the now-dissolved county government system in Connecticut 🗺️.

- Environmental Planning: Coordinating hazard mitigation plans, brownfields assessment and remediation, and coastal resilience strategies.
- GIS and Data Services: Maintaining a comprehensive Geographic Information System to support local planning and emergency management.
- Shared Services: Facilitating inter-municipal cooperation to reduce costs and improve efficiency for member towns.
