Governor’s Staff Agency
The Office of Policy and Management (OPM), headquartered at 450 Capitol Avenue, serves as the primary staff agency for the Governor of Connecticut. Established in 1977, this vital department functions as the state’s center for policy development, fiscal planning, and administrative management. OPM is responsible for formulating the Governor’s budget proposals, monitoring the execution of the state budget, and overseeing the management of state agencies. The office plays a pivotal role in inter-agency coordination, ensuring that state policies are implemented efficiently across various departments, from criminal justice planning to labor relations.
- Budget Division: Develops and executes the state’s fiscal plan and capital program.
- Criminal Justice Policy: Analyzes trends and coordinates improvement strategies for the justice system.
- Intergovernmental Policy: Manages state-local relations and municipal grant programs.
