Overview
About the Natural Resources Service Center
The Natural Resources Service Center (NRSC) acts as the administrative backbone for Maine’s environmental and resource-focused agencies. Located in the Marquardt Building on the East Campus of the AMHI Complex in Augusta, this state entity provides centralized financial, human resources, and payroll support. By consolidating these administrative functions, the NRSC allows the state’s subject-matter experts to focus on protecting Maine’s natural heritage rather than paperwork.
Agencies Served
The NRSC is not a public-facing regulatory body itself, but rather a support bureau under the Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS). It directly supports the operations of four major state departments:
- Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry: Protecting farmland, forests, and state parks.
- Department of Environmental Protection: Managing air and water quality standards.
- Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife: Overseeing hunting, fishing, and wildlife habitats.
- Department of Marine Resources: Managing coastal resources and commercial fisheries.
Services and Access
While the primary function of the NRSC is internal government support, the facility may be visited by individuals conducting business with these specific departments, such as dropping off permit applications or employment paperwork. The center handles human resources inquiries for job applicants and current employees of the supported agencies. Visitors to the Marquardt Building should expect standard state office security measures.
