Promoting Health and Water Safety
The Arundel Olympic Swim Center (AOSC) is a top-tier indoor aquatic facility operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks. Located on Riva Road within the Heritage Office Complex, this center is a hub for competitive swimming, fitness training, and recreational water activities 🏊. The facility features a temperature-controlled, 50-meter Olympic-sized swimming pool that can be configured for various uses, from long-course training to short-course lap swimming. Additionally, there is a separate wading pool with a zero-depth entry, making it accessible for toddlers and individuals with mobility challenges. The center plays a vital role in the community by offering year-round access to water for health and leisure.
Programs and Amenities
The Swim Center offers a diverse range of programs catering to all ages and skill levels:
- Swim Lessons: Comprehensive instruction for children and adults, ranging from beginner water acclimation to advanced stroke refinement.
- Aquatic Fitness: Classes such as water aerobics, deep-water running, and arthritis therapy tailored to improve cardiovascular health and flexibility without joint impact.
- Competitive Swimming: The pool serves as a home base for local swim teams, high school meets, and regional competitions, equipped with professional diving boards and timing systems ⏱️.
- Relaxation: A poolside 17-person spa allows patrons to relax and rehabilitate muscles after a workout.
Visiting the Center
The AOSC is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring locker rooms with coin-operated lockers, family changing areas, and ADA-compliant lifts for pool entry. Residents of Anne Arundel County can take advantage of daily admission passes or annual memberships, while non-residents are also welcome for a slightly higher fee. Whether training for a triathlon, learning to swim, or simply enjoying a family outing, the Arundel Olympic Swim Center provides a safe and clean environment for all aquatic needs 🤽.
