Overview
Annapolis VEIP Station
Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program
The Annapolis Vehicle Emissions Testing Station, managed by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) and the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), is the primary facility for emissions compliance in Anne Arundel County. This station offers both full-service inspection lanes and a 24/7 self-service kiosk for eligible vehicles (typically model year 2005 and newer). The facility ensures that vehicles registered in Maryland meet state air quality standards by testing onboard diagnostics (OBD) systems. The station is designed for high efficiency, often completing tests in under 15 minutes. Drivers can pay fees directly at the booth or kiosk. Note that this location is strictly for emissions testing and does not handle driver’s licenses or title work.
- Self-Service Kiosk: Available 24/7 (Credit Card Only)
- Services: OBD Testing, Gas Cap Check, Idle Test
- Closures: State Holidays (Veterans Day, Juneteenth, etc.)
Payment & Operations
The full-service lanes accept cash, personal checks, and major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover). The self-service kiosk accepts credit cards only and offers a reduced fee compared to the full-service lanes. Wait times can vary significantly; mid-month and mid-week visits are typically less crowded. Visitors should bring their vehicle registration card and the VEIP notice received in the mail to expedite the process.
