Overview
Naval Support Activity Annapolis: North Severn Complex
Naval Academy Support and Aviation Operations
The United States Department of the Navy operates critical support facilities at the North Severn complex of Naval Support Activity (NSA) Annapolis. Located across the Severn River from the main academy grounds, this area (including Hangar 234) houses the Naval Academy’s aviation training assets, the Small Craft Repair Facility, and the Yard Patrol (YP) squadron. This installation provides essential logistical, maintenance, and operational support for the midshipmen’s professional development, particularly in seamanship and aviation familiarization. The base operates under strict federal jurisdiction, ensuring the readiness of training platforms and the security of Department of Defense assets. Personnel stationed here coordinate the maintenance of the academy’s fleet and manage the airfield operations used for flight screening.
