Overview
Federal Law Enforcement
The FBI Annapolis Resident Agency, located on Harry S. Truman Parkway, acts as a crucial satellite office for the Baltimore Field Office. This facility serves a broad jurisdiction covering Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and St. Mary’s counties. As the nation’s premier law enforcement and intelligence agency, the FBI’s mission here focuses on protecting communities from the most serious security threats, including terrorism, cybercrime, and public corruption. Agents stationed at this location conduct investigations, gather intelligence, and collaborate with local and state police forces.
Investigative Priorities
The Annapolis agency handles a diverse range of federal cases. Key priorities include Counterterrorism, where agents work to identify and disrupt plots; Cyber Crime, addressing computer intrusions and online fraud; and Civil Rights violations. The office also vigorously pursues violent crime, organized crime syndicates, and white-collar financial schemes. Through the Annapolis Safe Streets Task Force, the FBI partners with local law enforcement to dismantle drug trafficking organizations and reduce violent crime in the region.
Public Interaction and Security
Unlike local police stations, this facility is not designed for walk-in reporting of minor crimes. It is a high-security federal office. Visits are typically by appointment only or for official business. Members of the public wishing to report a federal crime or submit a tip are encouraged to do so via the FBI’s online portal or by calling the Baltimore Field Office directly. For those who do have scheduled business at the Resident Agency, strict security protocols are in place, including ID verification and screening for prohibited items.
