The Newark Data Processing Division, operating under the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), acts as the digital backbone for the city’s financial operations. Located in Room 109 of City Hall, this division is responsible for the maintenance, processing, and integrity of the city’s vast financial data. This includes the management of the municipal payroll system, budget forecasting models, and the digital infrastructure that supports revenue collection and expenditure tracking.
Core Functions
- Budget Administration: Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of the city’s annual operating and capital budgets.
- Data Integrity: ensuring accurate data entry and processing for citywide financial systems.
- System Support: Providing technical oversight for the financial software used by various city departments.
Location and Access
The office is situated on the first floor of Newark City Hall at 920 Broad Street. As an internal administrative division, it primarily serves other city departments rather than the general public. However, vendors and contractors may occasionally interact with this office regarding payment data or system inquiries. Access to the building requires passing through security screening at the main rotunda entrance.
