Overview
FEMA Region 2 Headquarters
Regional Responsibility
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region 2 office, headquartered at One World Trade Center, serves as the critical hub for federal emergency management operations across a diverse geographic area. This region encompasses the states of New York and New Jersey, as well as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The staff at this facility coordinate with state, tribal, and local governments to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters such as hurricanes, floods, and severe storms.
Operational Focus
This location functions primarily as an administrative and strategic command center. Key departments housed here include Mitigation, Recovery, Response, and Grant Programs. The office manages the allocation of federal funds for hazard mitigation projects and public assistance grants.
Important for Visitors: This is NOT a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) for the general public. Individuals seeking immediate disaster assistance, housing support, or help with applications should not visit this office. Instead, they should apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov or visit a temporary field DRC if one has been established in their community.
Security and Access
Located in One World Trade Center, one of the most secure buildings in the nation, access to the FEMA Region 2 office is extremely restricted. Entry is strictly limited to authorized federal employees and pre-cleared visitors with confirmed appointments. All visitors must undergo rigorous airport-style security screening in the lobby, including ID verification and bag checks. Unauthorized walk-ins will not be granted access to the elevators.
