Overview
Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET)
Integrated Criminal Justice Information System
The Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET), administratively based at Technology Park in Harrisburg, serves as the Commonwealth’s primary public safety and criminal justice information broker. Operating under the Office of Administration, JNET provides a secure, unified online portal that connects municipal, county, state, and federal agencies. This integrated system allows authorized users—including police officers, judges, and probation officials—to access and share critical offender records, driver information, and warrant data in real-time, facilitating faster and more informed decision-making across the justice system.
- Data Integration: Aggregating data from diverse sources such as PennDOT, the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC), and the State Police.
- Secure Portal: Providing a protected environment for the transmission of sensitive criminal history and public safety information.
- Notification Services: Alerting probation and parole officers when an offender under their supervision has police contact.
- Facial Recognition: Offering investigative tools to assist law enforcement in identifying suspects.
Restricted Access and Administration
The facility at Technology Park houses the administrative and technical support staff for the network. It is not a public-facing office for general citizen inquiries or walk-in services. Access to the JNET system is strictly vetted and limited to authorized criminal justice professionals. The agency focuses on maintaining the infrastructure that keeps Pennsylvania’s law enforcement connected and efficient. 👮♂️ 🖥️ 🔗
Security Protocols
Due to the sensitive nature of the data managed, strict security protocols are in place for both physical access to the administrative building and digital access to the network. The agency ensures compliance with FBI and state regulations regarding the handling of criminal justice information (CJI).
