Profile
Welcoming the Stranger for Over a Century
For more than 140 years, HIAS Pennsylvania has been a steadfast advocate for immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in the Greater Philadelphia area. 🏛️ Founded in 1882 as the Association for Jewish Immigrants, our organization is driven by the Jewish value of ‘welcoming the stranger.’ We have since grown to serve low-income and vulnerable immigrants from all backgrounds, providing them with the legal and social services necessary to build new lives in a safe and welcoming community. Our mission is to protect the rights of immigrants, address their needs, and advocate for their full and equitable inclusion into American society. We see newcomers as valuable resources who enrich our communities, and we are committed to upholding the dignity and humanity of every individual we serve.
