About Bridgeport DSSD
The Bridgeport Downtown Special Services District (DSSD) is a quasi-public agency dedicated to revitalizing and managing the heart of the Park City. 🏙️ Operating as a Business Improvement District (BID), the DSSD is funded by a special tax assessment on downtown properties and is governed by a Board of Commissioners. Its primary mission is to create a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant environment for businesses, residents, and visitors. 🧹 Through its ”Colorful Bridgeport” campaign, the district promotes economic development, manages public spaces, and organizes community events that highlight the city’s diversity and culture.
Ambassadors and Services
The most visible aspect of the DSSD’s work is its team of uniformed Ambassadors who patrol the district seven days a week. Key services include:
- Clean Team: Ambassadors perform daily street sweeping, trash removal, graffiti abatement, and pressure washing of sidewalks.
- Safety Escorts: The Safety Ambassadors provide a welcoming presence, offering directions to visitors and safety escorts for employees or residents walking to their cars or transit stops.
- Events & Marketing: The office coordinates major local happenings, such as the Downtown Farmers Market, the ”Color It In” mural project, and seasonal festivals.
Visit Information
The DSSD administrative office is located at 938 Broad Street. 🏢 While the Ambassadors are often seen on the street, the office serves as the headquarters for district management and planning. Visitors can stop by to pick up maps, learn about business resources, or report maintenance issues within the downtown zone. 🚧 As a business-focused office, the environment is professional. Walk-ins are welcome for general inquiries, but appointments are recommended for meetings regarding property improvements or event sponsorships.
