Overview
About the Bridgeport Superior Court (GA 2)
The Bridgeport Superior Court, Geographical Area No. 2 (GA 2), is a state courthouse located on Golden Hill Street. Unlike the Judicial District courthouse on Main Street which handles major felonies and civil trials, this facility primarily manages lower-level criminal cases, motor vehicle violations, and infractions. It serves the towns of Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull. The courthouse is also home to the Housing Session, which hears matters regarding landlord-tenant disputes and evictions.
Court Services and Departments
The GA 2 courthouse houses several critical divisions:
- Criminal Clerk’s Office: Processes filings for misdemeanors, arraignments, and motor vehicle cases.
- Housing Court: Handles summary process (eviction) cases and housing code enforcement.
- Small Claims: (Note: centralized processing is often used, but inquiries may be directed here).
- Bail Services: Assesses individuals for bond and pretrial release.
- Adult Probation: Offices for the supervision of offenders are located nearby or within the complex.

All visitors to the courthouse must pass through security screening, including metal detectors. Cell phones and electronic devices are generally restricted in courtrooms and may need to be secured or turned off; photography is strictly prohibited without judicial authorization.
