Overview
Offender Supervision and Rehabilitation
The Division of Parole and Probation, an agency of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS), operates its Annapolis Field Office at 251 Rowe Boulevard. Strategically located within the Robert F. Sweeney District Court Multi-Service Center, this office is responsible for the community supervision of individuals who have been granted parole from state correctional facilities or placed on probation by the courts. The division aims to enhance public safety by enforcing the conditions of release while assisting offenders in their reintegration into society through treatment referrals and monitoring.
Supervision Programs
The agents at the Annapolis office manage a variety of supervision levels and specialized programs:
- General Supervision: Regular monitoring of offenders to ensure compliance with court orders, including employment, housing, and curfew checks.
- Drinking Driver Monitor Program (DDMP): A specialized unit focusing on individuals convicted of DUI/DWI offenses, monitoring ignition interlock usage and treatment attendance.
- Investigative Services: Conducting pre-sentence investigations to provide judges with background information for sentencing.
- Victim Services: Collecting restitution and ensuring no-contact orders are respected.
Visiting the Office
Because the office is housed within a functioning courthouse complex, strict security measures are in place. All visitors must pass through metal detectors and x-ray screening at the main entrance. Prohibited items include weapons of any kind, mace, and potential sharp objects. The office is open during standard state business hours. Parking is available in the adjacent lot (shared with the District Court) for a fee or with validation where applicable, and the location is directly accessible via local bus routes.
