About the Commission
The Asian American and Pacific Islanders Commission (AAPIC) is a permanent body of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, dedicated to advocacy on behalf of the AAPI community. Located at 1 Ashburton Place, the Commission works to recognize the vital contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to the social, cultural, economic, and political life of the state. It serves as a resource for policy makers and a voice for the diverse AAPI population across Massachusetts.
Mission and Activities
The Commission focuses on several key areas to advance the well-being of the community:
- Advocacy: Identifying and addressing the needs and challenges facing residents of Asian ancestry, including civil rights, health, and education.
- Policy Review: Advising the Governor and Legislature on issues impacting AAPI residents.
- Community Engagement: Hosting public hearings, town halls, and the annual Unity Dinner to foster connection and dialogue.
- Resource Coordination: Acting as a liaison between community organizations and state government agencies.

The Commission’s office is housed within the McCormack Building. Visitors should note that this is a secure government facility.
