Overview
About Dog Licensing Services
The Dog Licensing Division, operating under the Worcester City Clerk’s Office in Room 206 of City Hall, is responsible for maintaining the registry of all dogs residing within the city limits. In accordance with Massachusetts General Law and city ordinances, every dog six months of age or older must be licensed annually. This requirement serves as a critical measure for public health and safety, ensuring that all pets are up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations. A current dog license also acts as a primary form of identification, significantly increasing the likelihood of a lost pet being reunited with its owner. The office manages the issuance of new licenses, annual renewals, and kennel licenses for breeders or residents with multiple dogs. Failure to license a dog can result in significant fines, making compliance essential for all pet owners in Worcester.
