About DDS Worcester Area Office
The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) – Worcester Area Office provides essential support and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Serving Worcester and neighboring towns including Auburn, Holden, and Shrewsbury, this office acts as the primary entry point for eligible individuals to access state-funded support. The mission of the DDS is to create opportunities for individuals to contribute to their communities and participate fully in society through personalized service planning.
Services Provided
The Worcester Area Office offers a range of supports tailored to the needs of adults and children with disabilities:
- Service Coordination: Case managers work directly with individuals and families to develop Individual Support Plans (ISPs), connecting them with day programs, employment services, and transportation.
- Residential Support: Assistance in arranging various living situations, including group homes, shared living, and independent living supports.
- Family Support: Providing resources for respite care, flexible funding, and navigation assistance for families caring for a loved one with a disability.
- Transition Services: Helping young adults transition from special education services in schools to adult service systems.
Accessing Services
To receive services, individuals must first go through an eligibility process. The office is located in the same complex as the EEC, at 324-R Clark Street. The ‘R’ designates the rear building, which has its own parking and accessible entrance. Families are encouraged to call ahead to schedule an appointment with a service coordinator.
