Overview
Mercer County Connection Overview
The Mercer County Connection is a specialized satellite office established by the Mercer County administration to bring essential government services directly to residents in a convenient, accessible location. Situated within the Hamilton Square Shopping Center on Route 33, this facility functions as a ”one-stop shop,” eliminating the need for citizens to travel to downtown Trenton for many routine county transactions. The office is designed to provide a user-friendly environment with extended hours, including evening and weekend availability, making it easier for working professionals and families to access government resources.
Passport and Notary Services
One of the primary functions of the Mercer County Connection is acting as a designated Passport Acceptance Facility. The office accepts applications for new U.S. passports and can take passport photos on-site. It is critical for applicants to arrive prepared:
- Appointments: Due to high demand, appointments are often required or highly recommended for passport services.
- Payment Policy: The U.S. Department of State fee must be paid by check or money order only; cash and credit cards are not accepted for the federal portion of the fee. A separate execution fee to the County Clerk may be paid by card.
- Notary Public: Notary services are available to Mercer County residents for a nominal fee. Visitors should bring valid identification and the document to be notarized (unsigned until in the presence of the notary).
County Clerk and Community Services
Beyond passports, the facility offers a wide range of services managed by the Mercer County Clerk’s Office and other departments. Residents can visit this location to apply for and obtain:
- County ID Cards: Including Gold Star Parent IDs and Veteran IDs, which may offer discounts at participating local businesses.
- Voter Registration: Forms and assistance for voter registration and mail-in ballot applications are available.
- Senior and Veteran Assistance: Staff can provide information and referrals for programs benefiting seniors, veterans, and their families.
- Recycling: Residents can pick up official Mercer County recycling buckets to replace lost or damaged ones.
Location and Accessibility
The office is located at 957 Route 33 (NJ-33), within the Hamilton Square Shopping Center. This location offers ample free parking, a significant advantage over downtown government buildings. The facility is fully wheelchair accessible and is served by public transportation, ensuring equitable access for all county residents. The convenient setting allows visitors to combine their government business with other daily errands in the shopping center.
