The Agency of Digital Services (ADS), formerly known as the Department of Information and Innovation (DII), is the centralized information technology arm of the Vermont state government. Headquartered at 133 State Street, the Agency is responsible for the direction, planning, and management of all IT assets and digital services across the Executive Branch. By consolidating technology resources, ADS aims to improve efficiency, enhance cybersecurity, and deliver more accessible government services to the citizens of Vermont.
Cybersecurity and Infrastructure
A primary mandate of the ADS is to protect state data and ensure the reliability of government networks.
- Security Operations: The Security Office monitors state networks for threats, implements defense protocols, and manages incident response to protect sensitive citizen and state data.
- Network Management: ADS oversees the wide area network (WAN) and local area networks (LAN) that connect state offices across Vermont, ensuring high-speed and reliable connectivity.
- Data Centers: The agency manages the state’s physical and cloud-based data centers, providing secure hosting for critical government applications.
Digital Services and Innovation
ADS focuses on modernizing how the government interacts with the public through technology.
- Citizen Portals: The agency develops and maintains the myVermont.gov platform and other digital portals that allow residents to access services online, such as license renewals and tax filings.
- Project Management: The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) oversees large-scale IT projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet business requirements.
- Procurement: ADS manages the procurement of IT hardware, software, and services, leveraging the state’s buying power to secure cost-effective solutions.
Support and Operations
The agency provides essential daily support to thousands of state employees.
- Service Desk: The ADS Service Desk offers technical support for state workers, resolving hardware and software issues to maintain government productivity.
- Desktop Support: Technicians provide on-site and remote assistance for workstations, mobile devices, and peripherals used by state agencies.
