Overview
Prize Claim Center and Administration
The Maine State Lottery headquarters is located on the 3rd floor of 19 Union Street. This facility serves as the primary claim center for lottery winners, particularly those redeeming prizes of $600 or more. While winning tickets under this amount can typically be redeemed at retail agents, larger jackpots require processing at this central office.
Claiming Your Prize
Winners visiting the headquarters to claim a prize must adhere to specific validation procedures. To ensure a smooth process, visitors should:
- Bring the Winning Ticket: The original ticket must be signed on the back.
- Provide Identification: A valid government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) and proof of Social Security Number are required for tax reporting purposes.
- Processing Time: While claims are accepted during business hours, the office stops processing new claims at 4:15 PM. Prizes are typically paid out via check; large jackpots may require additional processing time.
Responsible Gaming and Operations
Operated by the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations (BABLO), this office also manages the administrative side of the state’s spirits and lottery businesses. The bureau is dedicated to ensuring integrity in gaming and promotes responsible play. Information regarding lottery rules, second-chance drawings, and subscription services can also be obtained here.
