The Roger ‘Pip’ Moyer Recreation Center (PMRC), located in Truxtun Park, is the flagship facility for the Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department. Named after the city’s former mayor, this extensive community hub serves as a gathering place for residents of all ages. The facility is designed to promote health, wellness, and social engagement through a wide variety of programs. From the Ballman Community reading programs to high-energy sports leagues, PMRC is central to the city’s active lifestyle. Facilities and Amenities
- Fitness and Athletics: The center boasts a 3,000+ square foot fitness center with cardio and strength equipment, an indoor walking/jogging track, and a three-court gymnasium for basketball and volleyball.
- Rock Climbing Wall: A signature feature is the indoor rock climbing wall, offering challenges for both beginners and experienced climbers.
- Youth Features: The facility includes the ‘Ballocity’ indoor playground and a ‘Kidz Zone’ for babysitting while parents exercise.
- Community Spaces: Multiple meeting rooms, an auxiliary gym, and classrooms host everything from dance classes to civic association meetings.
Access and Operations
Access to the fitness facilities and open gym requires a membership or a daily drop-in fee. The center is open seven days a week, though hours vary by day. It is fully ADA accessible, ensuring inclusivity for all members of the community. Located adjacent to the Truxtun Park outdoor amenities, including a pool and skate park, PMRC functions as the indoor anchor for the city’s recreational district.
