About CMRPC

The Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) is the designated regional planning agency serving Worcester and 39 surrounding communities in the southern two-thirds of Worcester County. Established to foster cooperation among municipalities, the commission works to address challenges that cross city and town borders. The agency provides technical expertise and data-driven solutions to improve the quality of life, economic vitality, and environmental sustainability of the region.

Key Planning Areas

CMRPC focuses its efforts on several critical sectors of regional development:

• Transportation: Acting as the staff for the Central Massachusetts Metropolitan Planning Organization (CMMPO), the agency plans for future transit needs, highway improvements, and bicycle/pedestrian infrastructure.
• Land Use and Environment: Assisting towns with zoning bylaws, master plans, and environmental impact assessments to ensure sustainable growth.
