Overview
Division of Health Informatics
The Pennsylvania Department of Health maintains an administrative office at 2150 Herr Street in Harrisburg. This facility is primarily home to the Bureau of Health Statistics and Registries and the Division of Health Informatics. Unlike the Vital Records office at Forum Place, this location focuses on the collection, analysis, and dissemination of public health data rather than the issuance of birth and death certificates to the public.
Core Functions
This division serves as the statistical backbone for public health planning in the Commonwealth.
- Pennsylvania Cancer Registry: Collects and processes data on cancer incidence across the state to support research and prevention efforts.
- Vital Statistics: Compiles and analyzes data derived from birth, death, and marriage records to produce the annual health statistics reports.
- Health Research: Provides data to researchers, policymakers, and public health officials to monitor trends and identify health disparities.
Important Notice for Visitors
Please note that this location is NOT for obtaining birth or death certificates in person. The public counter for Vital Records is located at 555 Walnut Street in downtown Harrisburg. The Herr Street office is an administrative facility involved in data management and is generally not open to the public for walk-in services. It is recommended to contact the department by phone or visit their website for data requests or statistical inquiries.
