About the OFCCP Philadelphia District Office
The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) is a premier civil rights agency within the U.S. Department of Labor. The Philadelphia District Office, located in the Robert N.C. Nix, Sr. Federal Building, is responsible for ensuring that companies doing business with the federal government comply with laws and regulations requiring nondiscrimination. This office enforces Executive Order 11246, Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA).
Mission and Enforcement
The OFCCP holds federal contractors and subcontractors accountable for:
- Nondiscrimination: prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
- Affirmative Action: requiring contractors to take affirmative action to recruit and advance qualified minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and protected veterans.
- Compliance Evaluations: conducting audits of contractor facilities to review personnel practices and policies.
- Complaint Investigations: investigating complaints filed by employees or applicants who believe they have been discriminated against by a federal contractor.
Security and Access
As this office is situated within a federal courthouse and office building, security is strictly enforced. All visitors must undergo airport-style screening, including metal detectors and x-ray inspection of personal items. Valid government-issued photo identification is required for entry. Mobile phones and electronic devices may be restricted in certain areas of the building. Visitors seeking to file a complaint are encouraged to contact the office by phone first to schedule an appointment or receive guidance on the filing process. 🏛️⚖️🇺🇸👷♂️📝🚫🔫
