Overview
About the Philadelphia Service Port
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Philadelphia Service Port acts as the central administrative and command hub for CBP operations throughout the Delaware Valley. Housed in the historic U.S. Custom House at 2nd and Chestnut Streets, this office oversees the enforcement of customs and immigration laws for the Area Port of Philadelphia. While frontline officers inspect passengers at the airport and cargo at the seaport, the Service Port manages the critical support functions, including trade compliance, vessel clearance, and the assessment of duties and tariffs.
Trade and Vessel Services
This facility is the primary contact point for the international trade community. Key divisions located here include:
- Trade Operations: Import specialists reviewing entries, enforcing trade remedies, and ensuring product safety.
- Vessel Central: Managing the entrance and clearance of commercial vessels arriving in the Delaware River ports.
- Fines, Penalties, and Forfeitures (FP&F): Handling administrative adjudication of seizures and penalty notices.
Please note: Deferred Inspections and Global Entry interviews are typically conducted at the Philadelphia International Airport, not at this downtown administrative office.
Security and Visiting
The U.S. Custom House is a secure federal facility. Access is generally restricted to authorized personnel and individuals with scheduled appointments for specific administrative matters. All visitors must present valid government-issued photo identification and pass through airport-style security screening. Weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited. 🏛️⚓📦🛂🇺🇸📉👮♂️
