Overview
Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center Overview
The Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center (PICC) is a medium-security confinement facility operated by the Philadelphia Department of Prisons (PDP). Located on the State Road correctional campus in Northeast Philadelphia, it primarily houses adult male inmates in general population and special housing units 🏢. Opened in 1986, PICC was designed with a unit management system to facilitate better supervision and providing inmates with access to medical triage, law libraries, and social services within their housing areas.
Visitation and Inmate Services
PICC maintains a strict visitation schedule to ensure safety and order. Appointments are mandatory and must be scheduled between 48 hours and seven days in advance; walk-ins are not permitted 🚫. Inmates are typically allowed one visit per week. The facility also facilitates video visitation and provides services for friends and family to deposit funds into inmate commissary accounts via kiosks or online portals.
Security and Dress Code
Visitors must adhere to rigorous security protocols. All entrants are subject to airport-style screening, including metal detectors. A valid government-issued photo ID is required for entry 🆔. The facility enforces a strict dress code: no hoodies, no revealing clothing, no ripped jeans, and no orange or blue clothing that resembles inmate uniforms. Cell phones and electronics are strictly prohibited inside the visiting area; lockers are available in the lobby for a small fee (quarters required) to store personal items.
