Jennifer Road Detention Center
The Jennifer Road Detention Center (JRDC) is a maximum-security intake and pretrial detention facility operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Detention Facilities. Located in Annapolis near the Anne Arundel Medical Center, this facility primarily houses individuals awaiting trial who have not made bail, as well as those requiring special housing for medical or behavioral health reasons.
Facility Operations
Under the leadership of Superintendent Christopher M. Klein, the JRDC ensures public safety while providing secure confinement. The facility has a rated capacity of over 600 inmates. It serves as the central processing point for arrestees in the county and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The center utilizes a kiosk system in the lobby for commissary deposits, managed by Access Corrections.
Visitation Policy
Visitation at Jennifer Road is strictly non-contact. Inmates are typically allowed two personal visits per week. All visits must be scheduled at least one day in advance to ensure slot availability. Visitors must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled time for processing.
- Identification: A valid government-issued photo ID is required for all adults.
- Dress Code: Strictly enforced. No see-through clothing, plunging necklines, or shorts/skirts above the mid-thigh.
- Prohibited Items: Cell phones, smartwatches, and bags are not permitted in the visitation area. Lockers may be available but leaving items in your vehicle is recommended.

The facility is accessible via public transportation. The Jennifer Rd. at Detention Center bus stop is located directly outside, served by local routes including the Gold and Red lines, making it reachable for families and legal counsel.
