Protecting Children, Strengthening Families
The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) operates its Worcester East Area Office at 151 West Boylston Drive. As a critical state agency, its primary mission is to protect children from abuse and neglect while ensuring they are able to grow and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment. The agency works in partnership with families and the community to support parents and maintain family unity whenever possible. When necessary, DCF provides foster care and adoption services to ensure permanent homes for children.
- Child Protection: The office receives and investigates reports of child abuse and neglect (51A reports). Social workers assess the safety of children and determine the best course of action to ensure their well-being.
- Foster Care and Adoption: DCF recruits, trains, and licenses foster parents to provide temporary care. They also facilitate the adoption process for children who cannot return home, matching them with loving permanent families.
- Family Support: The agency offers services to stabilize families in crisis, including counseling referrals, parenting support, and connection to community resources to prevent family breakdown.
