Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System (MTRS)

The Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System (MTRS) is the public pension fund responsible for the retirement, disability, and survivor benefits of educators in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Headquartered in the Hood Park complex in Charlestown, this state agency serves over 190,000 active and retired teachers, administrators, and other eligible school personnel. The MTRS office is located on the second floor of 500 Rutherford Avenue. Visitors should be aware of the following access details:

• Parking: Free visitor parking is available in the Hood Park garage (up to 3 hours). Visitors must pull a ticket upon entry.
• Public Transit: The office is an approximate 8-minute walk from the Sullivan Square station on the MBTA Orange Line.
• Appointments: While walk-ins are accepted for document drop-offs, scheduling an appointment is highly recommended for counseling sessions to ensure staff availability.
