Fire Administration and Public Safety
The Worcester Fire Department Headquarters, located at 141 Grove Street, serves as the administrative heart of the city’s fire protection services. This facility houses the Office of the Fire Chief and oversees the strategic management of the department, including budgeting, training, and policy implementation. In addition to its administrative functions, the Grove Street complex is a fully operational fire station, home to Engine 3, Ladder 2, and Engine 16. The department is dedicated to protecting the lives and property of Worcester’s residents through rapid emergency response, comprehensive fire prevention programs, and community education.
- Administrative Services: The headquarters handles internal affairs, payroll, and general inquiries regarding the department’s operations. While many permits are processed at the Meade Street facility, headquarters remains the primary point of contact for departmental leadership.
- Emergency Response: As a central hub, the station at this location responds to a wide variety of incidents, from structure fires to medical emergencies and hazardous materials situations.
- Community Safety: The department actively engages in fire safety education, offering programs for schools and seniors to reduce fire risks throughout the community.
