Overview
NH Department of Labor – Workers Compensation Division
Overseeing Workplace Injury Claims
The Workers’ Compensation Division, housed within the Spaulding Building at the Hugh J. Gallen State Office Park, is the regulatory body responsible for administering the New Hampshire Workers’ Compensation Law (RSA 281-A). This division ensures that employers provide required coverage for their employees and that injured workers receive appropriate medical and wage replacement benefits. It serves as a neutral administrator in the dispute resolution process between injured employees, employers, and insurance carriers.
- Hearings and Appeals: The division conducts administrative hearings to resolve disputes regarding compensability, medical bills, and disability benefits. These hearings are held onsite at the Concord office.
- Claims Management: Staff oversee the filing of the First Report of Injury and monitor the progress of claims to ensure timely payments and medical treatments.
- Vocational Rehabilitation: The division certifies private vocational rehabilitation providers and monitors services designed to help injured workers return to suitable employment.
- Coverage Enforcement: The division enforces the requirement for employers to carry workers’ compensation insurance and investigates reports of non-compliance.
Visitor Information
The division is located at 95 Pleasant Street. Visitors attending hearings or meeting with claims adjusters should bring valid identification. The facility is part of the larger Department of Labor complex, which provides resources for both employees and employers regarding labor laws and safety regulations.
