Overview
About the Clarkson S. Fisher Federal Building
The Clarkson S. Fisher Federal Building and United States Courthouse, located at 402 East State Street in Trenton, serves as the seat for the Trenton Vicinage of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Completed in 1932 and designed in a stripped Neoclassical style, this historic facility was originally a dual-purpose post office and courthouse before being dedicated exclusively to the judiciary. It was renamed in 1993 to honor Clarkson Sherman Fisher, a former Chief Judge of the district. The court holds jurisdiction over federal cases arising from Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, Hunterdon, Somerset, Warren, and parts of Middlesex counties. It plays a critical role in the federal justice system, handling a diverse docket of civil litigation, criminal prosecutions, and bankruptcy appeals. 🏛️
