Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)
- The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) serves as the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley.
- Collaborative Forum: Acts as a regional council of governments where city, state, and suburban officials collaborate to decide on the use of federal transportation funds.
- Funding Allocation: Responsible for planning and programming billions of dollars in federal transportation funding to maintain and improve the region’s transit and road networks.

- Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP): Outlines the annual transportation planning activities to be undertaken by NYMTC and its member agencies.
