About the Massachusetts Appeals Court

The Massachusetts Appeals Court is the intermediate appellate court for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Established in 1972, this court reviews decisions from the seven departments of the Trial Court (including Superior, District, Probate and Family, Juvenile, Housing, Land, and Boston Municipal Courts) as well as final decisions from three state administrative agencies: the Appellate Tax Board, the Industrial Accident Board, and the Commonwealth Employment Relations Board.
